Governance & Grants Officer – Global Innovation Fund

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the Senior Legal Counsel in reviewing and negotiating GIF’s grant agreements with investees
  • Handles the day to day aspects of grant management of GIF’s various donor grant agreements including donor compliance and providing support to Chief of Staff and his Communications team with donor reporting obligations
  • Supports the General Counsel with regard to GIF’s governance including the Board of Directors and Committees of the Board (including development of policies and training, orderly record-keeping of minutes and other resolutions)
  • Assists with the design of governance arrangements for any new GIF vehicles, sub-funds or subsidiaries including in relation to any local law requirements
  • Helps to develop and implement GIF policies and procedures as they relate to good governance, conflicts of interest, document management, intellectual property and donor requirements
  • High level written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience of governance, risk and compliance framework and processes
  • Action oriented and resilient in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage a complex and varied work load and work under pressure

GIF is a dynamic and rapidly growing start up entity; the expectation would be to adapt quickly to the needs to the organisation.  The above list of duties is not exhaustive and post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may be reasonably expected within the scope the role.

GIF seeks to hire a Governance and Grants Officer sitting within the Legal & ESG Team and spending percentage of time supporting the Operations Team.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Law, International Relations (or similar field)
  • Qualification as a Solicitor in a common-law jurisdiction would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated experience working with non-profits, charities or government
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree in Law, International Relations (or similar field)
  • Qualification as a Solicitor in a common-law jurisdiction would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated experience working with non-profits, charities or government
  • At least two to three years progressively responsible experience working as a legal professional or within a non-profit, charity or government
  • A demonstrated commitment to GIF’s mission and demonstrated appetite for learning GIF’s business
  • Ability to constantly adapt working style to meet complex and varied workloads
  • Top-tier analytic, strategic thinking and project management skills
  •  Comfort with ambiguity and proven experience thriving in uncharted waters
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A sense of humour

This role will be based in London.  The salary being offered for this role will be between dependent on experience.
